Looking forward to our country drive on Sunday. I have a friend in Caldeon Hills who has a really nice farm (dogs! horses!) who invited us to drop in. Beautiful, very scenic area to explore and poke around and it's less than an hour drive from Toronto. No guns please.

Caledon Hills sounds beautiful. I cannot wait...especially to be near dogs and horses. You may have to tear me away from them. I'd love to head out early if that's OK with you.

Could you bring Pap's bikini to me this week? You must sneak this out of the house and you mustn't tell her. We have a surprise for her on the weekend and I don't want her to guess what we are doing. On Sunday we are going on a country drive and we're taking her to a lovely little place.

And no, I don't have a friend in Caledon Hills (dogs! horses!) - just an excuse to lure her up there.

Your little plan is working brilliantly; look at how the horse is drawn to water. ----------

BLOWN TO SMITHEREENS

A spontaneous day hiking in Haliburton turned out to be fraught with peril with pieces of Cambrian Shield narrowly missing our delicate hides.
J. and I checked out his nearly completed Cabin-in-the-Woods and stumbled across an oblivious contracter sticking dynamite into the ground, ready to blast massive amounts of rock into the air. Alas, we lived to tell the tale but only just.

Fall Colours Drive
Start off by taking Hwy 10 or Mississauga Road north until you hit Forks of the Credit Road.  This winding road is a must for fall colour viewing.  Slowly wind yourself from Hwy 10 to Belfountain to Hwy 10 and back again as you marvel at the range of colours on the trees.  Stop in at the quaint village of Belfountain for some hot soup or tasty sandwiches at the Belfountain General Store.

Afterwards take Hwy 10 north past Orangeville and turn right onto the Hockley Road.  This meandering road is a favorite fall drive of the regions locals as it takes you to an entry point of the Bruce Trail.  Stop at the Bruce Trail and take a quick hike.

Continue on the Hockley Road until you get to Airport Road where you’ll turn left.  Each hill you top on this road makes a scenic, picture-perfect vista fall before you, and it repeats until you hit Hwy 89.  At the lights go straight and you’ll notice a large green barn and silo.

After a stop at the Museum turn west onto Hwy 89.  On your drive you’ll come to Violet Hill.  This small hamlet is home to two unique businesses the first, Granny… Taught Us How has a wide selection of unique rugs, quilts, home décor, and casual clothing.  Its neighbor, Mrs. Mitchell’s offers tea, lunch, or dinner in colonial country flair.

Continue heading west on Hwy 89 until you get to Hwy 10.  At Hwy 10 turn left, you’re heading back south now towards where the journey started.
