Like all the emails I have been reading, I too have great memories of Patch, so fun and human-like, he really wasn't a dog,
he was a "little man".
I was fortunate to meet Patch when he was just new to the world.
He looked like a piglet and could walk under his big brother Beau's legs and belly.
I loved him from that moment on.
There were many funny times with Patch and Sergio in T.O. driving around the city.
I helped Sergio escape Toronto with Patch in Sergio's over-packed VW van before Christmas on our way to Winnipeg.
The van was so packed and there was absolutley no room in the back for Patch, but there was room for Patch upfront with the
boys!!
There was a spot for him looking out the front window between Sergio driving and me constantly asking for tea breaks.
We stopped in Nipigon Ontario at the top of Lake Superior, to visit my sister Heather and it was cold and snowy, but nothing
like going to Winnipeg.
In Winnipeg we stayed with Tony, Avril and Kim.
It was the coldest I had ever been, but there was lot's of Patch fun and singing Madonna's Evita show tunes.
Patch also helped us find "Turtles" as Winnipeg was almost completely sold out of them that year.We had eaten all of Kim's
box of chocolates and had to replace them before Christmas.
I visited Patch and Sergio a handful of times in Vancouver, escaping from my stressed-out work life in design in Toronto for
a big dose of the "best coast", "lotus land", good susie, and wonderful fun with Patch.
One of my fondest memories is taking care of Patch one Christmas when Sergio went to visit family. We hung out for a week and
I have the best memories of Patch posing for GQ style pictures at Spanish Banks, posing on the snow banks at Mount Seymour,
and taking the ferry to the Golf Islands.
The best thing for me about Patch was his uncanny ability to know exactly when you wanted to take a nap.He would huddle close
and look up at you with his handsome sleepy eyes as if to say...........yes............it's time........let's go.
Will love you forever little man!!

A couple of Angel Wings stories,
I have two stories that stand out in my mind of our dear Angel, Baby.
The first is when Patch met my dear, Purkie (my 30 lb tabi cougar who is
now playing with Patch in Angel land), and we weren't sure what would
happen between them since I had 'adopted' Purkie and didn't know if he
had ever been around dogs before (usually these two don't see eye to
eye), but in this case, they did (literally). Purk comes sauntering down
the hallway, creeking along due to his massive weight, and the trim fit
Patch trotts over to Purk, Purk stops, glances at Patch and heads to his
trough and Patch goes on to play with Purk's toys ... Which I gave to
Patch since Purk really wasn't interested in excessive exercise (takes
after his mother).
The second story was more recent, we were all up in Naramata and I was
sleeping downstairs ... I had to watch Cornation Street (yes, it is a
'had'), so I got up as my internal clock tells me 'Corrie time' and
started watching my show, all the sudden click click click .... Patch
came out to watch the show. I let him out to do his business, he came
back in, I brought him up on the hyda-bed with me and we snuggled and
watched our show, the sun was coming up over the Okanagan Lake, the
colour was amazing and we gazed out from time to time to observe the
beauty of BC .. It was a sober moment and one I will always remember.

know you were secretly growing wings, but they sure look good on you. Thinking of you my Christmas Angel.

Wow !! Who knew that when Sergio and I went for a drive in the country 13 years ago that we would have found and brought
home a tiny little puppy that has obviously touched a lot of people.
Where does one start ? I begged Sergio for years to get a dog. And one day out of the blue he said to me "you know that
breed of dog that you have been talking about " It all started with Beau. He fit in to our lives in about two seconds.
So after a year living with Beau I started working on Sergio for another one. The answer was a resounding NOOOOOO. I had
already done my homework and found a breeder, and said lets just go and take a look honey. I mean when you already have one
dog what's one more was my pitch.
About an hour later there we were at the breeders house. She let us in and said let me show you the puppies. There were
a couple of them on the floor and we both looked at each other and knew right away what one it was going to be with saying
a word. The runt of the litter. He was almost the size of a hamster.
So back in the car with a new puppy. I had gotten my way. Or so I had thought. Sergio cradled this little thing in his
coat and as we drived home it became very clear to me he was going to be without a doubt Sergio's dog. Hmm a name. Sergio
took him out of his coat and held him up. There he was all white and only one clear marking a Patch.
I honestly have so many stories about how clever, gentle, eager, outgoing, handsome, curious, cute did I mention handsome
? Patch was that I am not sure where to start. I always loved the way he could entertain himself. I have never seen another
dog play with toys the way he did. My sister had a basket of about 15 little stuffed toys in a basket that she kept for her
cat. Patch would go over and with obvious thought pick one out and play with it till it no longer held his interest. He
would go back again and again until the entire basket was empty and the contents were all over the living room floor. Totally
content. What a clever little man he was.
I have missed Patch for years. There is a finality of some kind with the news yesterday. I spent yesterday and this morning
trying to put it all into some kind of meaning. If you believe in some kind of "other side" what better an ambassador for
all of us than Patch to be there to greet us when we will all one day leave.
Reading all of the great things people have said about Patch is an amazing testament to Patch and Sergio. Very lucky all
of you !

Soy Eva, Patch´s aunt who lives in Barcelona. I honestly do not know where to begin.........
I am remembering my intimate moments with him...very intimate may I say......we spent the night together,...YES many nights
and they were wonderful even with his doggy smelling feet next to my face and on MY pillow. In the middle of the night when
I thought he had gone for a midnight cap I was then surprised to find him under my blanket sleeping and snorring like a prince.
He was the kind of guy who stayed all night til the morning, had breakfast with me and then when my brother went to work we
went for a morning jog in west end vancouver.
Charming, playful, loving, tender and sweet he is to me. I feel his loss tremendously and I have decided that their is room
for one more guardian angel in my universe. Thats you PATCH.
Gracias to all the wonderful stories everyone has shared...its great.
