There are just too many 'Patch' moments to list, but one of the funniest, documented escapades happened last Christmas. After
an appropriate time of 'charming' and socializing with the humans, Patch disappeared. Due to the candlelight atmosphere,
it took a moment before we discovered Patch sitting under the Christmas tree with three stuffed bears. That in itself was
a Kodak moment. But that didn't have quite enough panache for our favourite little man. In the next blink, he had selected
a bear buddy and was dashing off in the night with it... so quickly that the third shot was without a flash. The speed blur
is our dear Patch!
And then there's Patch, the 'food-guy'. He would keep endless vigils in the kitchen with you, ever optimistic that you might
just drop something delicious.
Love you, precious Patch!!!!!

Patch and his favorite nephews... they loved him
dearly and had a little cry when told about Patch.

My dearest beautiful Sergie,
I am so terribly saddened to read of your tragic news, please accept my deepest condolences. When I read your email about
Patch and fond stories, I really wanted to reflect on Patch, his energy and what the two of you have brought to my life,
thank you for that! I think my most cherished memory of Patch, involves you and the trust you bestowed upon me to allow me
to take Patch to the Endowment Lands with the "pack" of Morgan, Lyndon and Bob. Patch would leap over Lyndon, leap over several
logs more than twice his size and then double back and check that his pack was still together as one unit, a very courteous
and kind guest you brought him up to be, like they say the apple does not fall far from the tree. After I would let him run
through every possible pool of muck, still water and mud, we all pile into the Explorer and journey back to the oh so tranquil
land of Mackenzie Heights. Knowing full well the likes of Miss F, Babs and Papa would have no part of Pig Pen Patch it was
off to the kitchen sink for a warm water bath. Thinking back I don't know if it was the walk with Morgan Lyndon & Bob or the
warm water and massage the followed the day's activities that he and I enjoyed so much, but today I think my favorite was
the one on one time we had together in the sink and the trust he had in me, he always, always jumped into my arms after our
walk with the command of "spa time honey". Then he was fresh and clean ready for his primary pack that he knew truly loved
him to arrive home and greet him in proper Patch style. Thank you for that Sergie, I will always be forever indebted to the
time you allowed me to spend with Patch and please know your paths will cross again, they have before and yes they will again.
I will take some time from 3-4 today to sit quietly and send some Reiki to the two of you and all of the people in this email
that loved Patch so much. You gave him such a gorgeous life and please take comfort in that knowing how much you brought
to Patch's life and all of the joy, laughter and kindness you have brought to mine.
All my love, always,
Karin

Patch was always the handyman, ready and willing to climb the 100+ steps to the Patch Retreat on Gambier Island. One
day we took the water taxi across on a typically cold wintry day to install a fireplace. Everyone bitched about the day except
for Patch who was so happy to be amongst the old timber of the island - intrigued by the adventures that would unfold that
day. After a full exhausting day we loaded up the water taxi and journeyed back to the mainland. As I entered onto the sea
to sky highway I had an awful feeling. I had forgotten Patch. I raced to catch another water taxi back to the island. After
2 1/2 hours from when we had left the dock we approached it once again. The freezing rain that had dropped from the sky all
day continued into the evening. The captain of the boat gave me a search light as we approached the dock. And there was that
beautiful, proud dog sitting in the same place that I had left him. He was obviously pissed off as he barely acknowledged
me when boarding the boat. And then, halfway back on the trip Patch jumped on my lap and reached to lick my face. Patch, I
will miss you forever!!!
